All seasons offer extremely favorable fly fishing conditions, and as early as April, migrating fish begin to feed in the clear water of the shallows, but the best fly fishing is during June, July and August.
Bonefish, barracuda, snapper, permit and jack crevalle are also abundant here in the spring and summer.
To begin your fly fishing adventure in Holbox Island, experienced guides will pick you up at the hotel's private dock at 6:00 each morning. Breakfast will be served on the boat to afford an early start at fishing.
The guides are fully trained professionals that have decades of guiding and fishing expertise in this field.
The fishing boats are seaworthy 18 foot pangas, equipped for your comfort and safety, that are easy to pole into position.
The fishing spots are between 20 minutes and an hour away from the hotel's private dock and are anywhere from 5-15 feet deep.
The trip lasts 8 hours but extra time can be arranged as overtime.
Guides are native to Holbox island and have been tarpon fishing with a flyrod for many years.
Language is not an issue while fishing, for all guides at least speak "fishing" English although some of them are fluent English speakers.
Non-fishing travel partners are welcome to accompany the party and enjoy seeing the large amount of flamingos during the tarpon season, or laze on a pristine shore and wait for the pictures.
